How does it work?
SOLARSolar photovoltaic (PV) panels work by converting sunlight into electricity using a process called the photovoltaic effect. Here’s a simplified explanation of how this technology works:
Absorption of Sunlight: Solar panels are made up of many individual solar cells. These cells are typically made from semiconductor materials, most commonly silicon. When sunlight (photons) hits the solar panel, the photons are absorbed by the semiconductor material.
Generation of Electron-Hole Pairs: When the photons are absorbed, their energy is transferred to electrons in the semiconductor material. This energy is sufficient to free some electrons from their atomic bonds, creating electron-hole pairs. Electrons are negatively charged, and the holes are positively charged.
Electron Flow: The presence of these electron-hole pairs creates an electric field within the solar cell, which causes the free electrons to move towards the front surface of the cell, while the holes move towards the back surface. This creates a flow of electrons, generating an electric current.
Use of Conductive Materials: Metal conductive plates on the sides of the cell collect the electrons and transfer them to wires, creating an electric current. This current can then be used to power electrical devices or stored in batteries for later use.
Conversion of DC to AC (if necessary): The electricity generated by the solar panels is typically direct current (DC). In most homes and businesses, alternating current (AC) is used. Therefore, an inverter is used to convert the DC electricity from the panels into AC electricity compatible with the grid or household appliances.
Connection to the Electrical Grid (optional): Solar panels can be connected to the electrical grid through a grid-tied inverter. When your solar panels produce more electricity than you need, the excess can be sent back to the grid, and you may receive credits or compensation for it, depending on your location and local regulations. When your panels don’t produce enough electricity, you can draw power from the grid as usual.
Advances in solar cell technology continue to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of solar PV systems, making them an increasingly popular and sustainable source of renewable energy.
But all you have to think about is booking is in to install your system.
